Michael was born and raised in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. He studied physics with the Open University and has spent the last ten years working in a secondary school in Sheffield.
He is a fantasy and science fiction fan and it is these two genres that inspire him to write. ‘The Fall of The Veil’ is Michael’s first published novel and falls into the ‘fantasy’ category.
Michael has always enjoyed writing stories (ever since Mr McGurrin gave him a gold star for creative writing at primary school way back in 1988) and is always coming up with new ideas for novels, screenplays, short stories, etc.
Alongside writing Michael is a rock singer and was involved in two Sheffield-based bands during the 2000s – Ravenscar and Flatline. He gave this up when his first daughter was born due to his conviction that family always comes first.
Another of Michael’s hobbies is Steampunk. The Steampunk community are splendid people and a lot of inspiration can be found at a gathering of steampunkers! He has acquired a range of outfits to wear at Steampunk events and is trying to make his first EVA foam armour…
Michael lives in Derbyshire with his wife, two daughters and a toothless rescue cat named Ruby.
